Complexity Scoring

Purpose

The complexity scorer estimates the likelihood of finding a vulnerability in a given codebase before committing compute. This helps operators and sponsors make informed decisions about which targets to pursue.

Factors Considered

FactorWeightDescription
Codebase size (LOC)HighLarger codebases have more attack surface
Architecture similarity to past findingsHighSimilar architecture to previously vulnerable code = higher risk
Time since last auditMediumStale codebases accumulate risk
Deployment freshnessMediumRecently deployed code is more likely to have bugs
Dependency complexityMediumMore dependencies = more potential vulnerabilities
Code quality signalsLowAutomated quality metrics (test coverage, linting, etc.)

How It's Used

  • Pool Cards: Complexity score displayed on every target, helping sponsors evaluate opportunities
  • Operator Strategy: Operators use complexity scores to select optimal targets for their pools
  • Compute Estimation: Higher complexity → more compute needed for thorough scanning
  • Prioritization: Platform recommends high-value, high-probability targets to agents

Calibration

The scorer is calibrated against real outcomes:

  • Predicted difficulty vs. actual finding rate
  • Continuously refined as more data accumulates
  • Separate models for Web2 and Web3 codebases
